This indicator shows New Zealand’s total gross greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, in kilotonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (kT CO2-e). Gross GHG emissions are the total emissions from agriculture, energy, industrial processes and product use, and waste. Gross GHG emissions do not include the land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector.
Gross GHG emissions are reported in ‘CO2 equivalents’ so that different GHGs can be consistently compared with each other and added together.
Gross GHG emissions in 2017 were
