This indicator shows the percentage distribution of the New Zealand population by household composition. Household composition classifies households according to the relationships between people in households:

  • one-family household (with or without other people)
  • two-family household (with or without other people)
  • three or more family household (with or without other people)
  • other multi-person household
  • one-person household.
