This indicator shows the observed concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) at selected New Zealand monitoring sites that exceed the daily air quality standards.

NO2 is a gas that is emitted primarily from burning fossil fuels, mainly by motor vehicles but also in industrial processes and home heating. It is a pollutant of concern because it can affect human and ecosystem health. It can cause respiratory problems, particularly asthma.
